Starr Companies provides comprehensive insurance solutions for a broad range of classes.  The company has developed a new businessowners policy (BOP) for small businesses, and it wanted to get to market quickly. Starr’s BOP product would be marketed to small businesses with fewer than 50 employees in all 50 states. Not only did Starr need to get to market quickly, it needed a solution that would be efficient – enabling straight through web processing for agents to quote, issue policies and collect premiums in real-time.

Dovetail’s insurance platform met Starr’s requirements, enabling the company to make its vision to provide a small business product in an extremely efficient way, a reality. Starr began working with Dovetail in June and wanted to write its first policies by September – a very tight timeframe to put all of the elements in place for market launch.Dovetail was able to meet Starr’s deadlines launching StarrBOP on September 4, 2012.

Coastal Risk Underwriters is on an expansion path.    Marketing its unique homeowners products to customers in under-served, catastrophe-prone areas, the MGA has expanded its offerings county-by-county, and state-by-state aggressively since its inception in 2006.     Today, Coastal Risk Underwriters, a subsidiary of Insight Catastrophe Group, offers insurance products in 18 states, and has plans to continue to increase its distribution.

Early on, the Coastal Risk Underwriters (CRU) management team knew they had a big market opportunity, and they needed a company that had the capability to supplement their technology as well as the ability to scale quickly as CRU grew its business.

The Insight and Dovetail teams worked together seamlessly to deliver a fully integrated solution that could service CRU’s market.  Flexible systems and processes have made it easy to adapt when changes in system design, procedures and workflows are required.

The Dovetail solution scales effortlessly.    New states can be brought online very quickly.    And Coastal Risk Underwriters has no plans to stop expanding any time soon.
